U tube Heat Exchanger surrounded by a shell (outer vessel), one fluid flows through the tubes, and the other fluid flows through the shell, around tubes.Two and four-pass designs are common for simpler construction, with baffles directing flow to prevent short-circuiting and maintain effective flow volumes. Counter-current heat exchangers are the most efficient, providing the highest log mean temperature difference between hot and cold streams.
